It is the most friendly country in the world. Making it extremely easily for beginner as well as advanced travelers to navigate. The locals will almost always approach you and point you in the right direction even if you are not lost. It’s not called the “Land of Smiles” for no reason.

The food is absolutely delicious and relatively cheap. Even if you are splurging on a nice meal it wont cost you anymore than $20. Start your morning with a fresh fruit smoothie for less than a dollar and don’t forget to check out the local food markets. They have everything you could imagine from fresh fish to clementines, to pig intestine, and meat skewers. Eating your way through Thailand is a definite must, you will undoubtedly find something to tantalize your taste buds.

One word: massages. Thailand specializes in affordable messages and spa treatments. You can spend 200 Baht, roughly $5, on an hour long Thai or Swedish massage. You can sit outside and get a foot massage or even stick your feet in a tank of fish. Cheeva Spa in Chiang Mai is the best spa in the country. For 4,800 Baht ($150 including tip) you can enjoy the Cheeva Detox Spa package that includes a Himalayan salt foot soak and massage, a Thai herbal steam, a rejuvenating body scrub, an Australian red clay body wrap, a Swedish massage, a refreshing facial, and a Himalayan salt bath. Did I mention it is a 5 star spa and the best $150 you will ever spend, you pay that for a one hour Swedish massage in the states.

There are a ton of ancient ruins and temples to explore. Lopburi, also known as Monkey City, is a great place to get up close and personal with those little critters. Ayutthaya is one of the bigger ruins in the country and takes at least a day to explore. Then there is the legendary white temple up in Chiang Rai. Thousands of other temples dot the Thai skyline including the famous Reclining Buddha!

You get to ride in a tuk-tuk. A three wheel rickshaw that weaves in and out of traffic at lightening speeds. It’s usually faster to take a tuk-tuk then a taxi. It’s fun!

There is a secret place, that not many tourist know about. Khao Sak. It could be the most romantic place in all of Thailand. It’s a huge reservoir filled with emerald green waters and huge limestone cliffs. Floating bungalows is where you sleep and the warm water sooths the soul. If you don’t go anywhere else in Thailand go to Khao Sak.

Bottle Beach it another hidden gem. Located on the island of Koh Phangan. It is only reachable by 4 wheel drive or boat, but with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, you may never want to leave. There is also a great hike with one of the best lookouts in the whole country.

If you want to see a different side of Thailand head up north to Pai, a hippy little village. It is set way up in the mountains and give off the vibes of a beach town. There are hot springs, waterfalls, and elephant camps all around. The night market is the best in Thailand. The street food is delicious and cheap. You can find anything from sushi to crickets to bamboo shoots filled with tea, and lasagna. It is also home to the best Mojito in the world. Almost Famous serves them up with fresh lime, mint, and infused with a plethora of different fruit. The passion fruit and mango ones will have you coming back for more.

Magic Mike’s in Bangkok is a must. Not only is the food incredibly fresh and delicious but Mike is a skilled magician. He entertains you at your table and is bound to impress you with his skills and knowledge of the magic world. He is nearly famous in Thailand and you get a free show when you dine at his spot. He is sure to wow you with his food and his finesse. Don’t miss this.

Koh Tao is one of the cheapest places in the world to get certified to scuba dive. If this is on your bucket list how could you say no to crystal clear waters and beaches galore.

Take a boat tour through Bangkok. It’s a great way to see the cultural changes happening throughout the city and you might even get to see a giant Monitor Lizard; however, do not go swimming in the rivers.

T.I.T., yes you read that correctly, and it stands for Tourist Information Thailand. If you want to spare yourself the headache of planning your vacation just head over to T.I.T in Bangkok. They will be able to sort you out and can usually get cheaper rates than if you were to book it yourself. It also keeps all of the tourism money in Thailand instead of giving it to international companies. If you are looking to join a group on a tour I highly suggest TruTours. It’s still a small enough company to make the tour worth it.

Playing with elephants. Thailand is famous for its elephant camps. What is more fun than playing with a 2 ton wild animal? Not much and these elephants are so sweet it’s worth a day to volunteer at one of these camps and interact with such spectacular beings. However, make sure to do your research and only participate in camps that are cruelty free.

The street art is amazing and it is everywhere, you could make an entire coffee table book with different images.
