Fabulous art and stunning views of Reno from the roof top space, the Nevada Museum of Art is an idyllic and unique place to get married.
Felicia Events talked with Andy Bomberger, the Museums Special Events and Sales Coordinator, about all things wedding.
Felicia Events: Tell us a little bit about the Nevada Museum of Art and what the venue can offer a bride and groom.
Andy Bomberger: The Nevada Museum of Art offers a sophisticated and welcoming environment for your wedding in the heart of Reno’s own booming downtown district. Clean lines and a neutral pallete provide a blank canvas for our guests to create their own masterpiece. The building itself is a work of art and contains all the tools and equipment to execute a phenomenal event. The Museum environment provides entertainment for your guests and provides extra value.
FE: What can a couple expect when booking a wedding at the museum?
AB: Couples can expect attentive and professional service from our experienced team, amazing views of Northern Nevada, and an artistic backdrop that is the perfect environment to celebrate your special event.
FE: Can couples bring in their own food, music, photographer, cake, wine, etc.?
AB: All catering is provided in house by Mark Estee’s chez louie. Mark Estee is an award-winning restauranteur and his passion and love for food is carried over into his catering. Guests may bring in their own cake and our staff will provide cake cutting for free. Wine is also allowed to be brought in for a corkage fee. The Nevada Museum of Art works with a wonderful network of preferred wedding professionals for all other needs, however, we are happy to work with your vendors as well.
FE: Can both the ceremony and the reception be held at the museum?
AB: There are two different ceremony and reception venues to choose from at the Museum. The Skyroom and Sky Plaza are located four stories up on the edge of downtown and midtown in the newly formed Liberty District and provide sweeping views of the western sky and the downtown area. This space includes both an indoor space and patio, so depending on the weather, you can have a completely protected space with a view or an indoor/outdoor/hybrid space thanks to the floor to ceiling glass windows and accordion style patio doors.
The Reynolds Hall is located on the first floor and provides expansive views of our atrium as well as a unique contemporary venue for your reception. It is the perfect blank canvas that can allow for your event theme and décor to shine through. The theater was also completely acoustically designed and provides a gorgeous indoor, protected space for your ceremony.
FE: What makes a wedding held at the museum unique from weddings held at other venues in Reno/Tahoe?
AB: The Nevada Museum of Art is the only accredited museum in the state of Nevada. This accreditation allows us to have very sensitive and timeless pieces of art. Our museum is always changing as the exhibits frequently rotate out about every 90 days. While our primary goal is to be a Museum, we have developed an incredible event program and work with one of the most creative culinary teams in the area.
FE: Is there anything else you'd like to share? Who can people contact to get the planning process started?
AB: We make it incredibly easy to have your wedding at the Nevada Museum of Art. Our team will handle all details for both the venue and catering, and you will work with one point of contact. To get started, please contact Nisha Hallert at 775-398-7225 or Nisha.Hallert@nevadaart.org.
Thank you SO much for your time!
