Felicia Events sat down with photographer and designer Sarah Jane Winter to chat about paper, photography, graphic design, and more.
Here, she offers some insight into invitation design as it relates to weddings.
Felicia Events: Tell us about Sarah Jane Winter Photo and Design.
Sarah Jane Winter: I have loved paper and photography for as long as I can remember. Though I am often hired for one or the other, photography and design often go hand in hand.
Felicia Events: What can a couple expect when they choose to work with you to design their wedding invitations?
Sarah Jane Winter: All paper goods are custom designed to each couple's unique wedding. Art, colors, fonts, and design elements are chosen to reflect the couple's personalities, venue, and wedding vision. No two invitations are the same! I love it when a couple comes to me with a fun idea that leads to something new and unexpected.
Felicia Events: What can a couple expect when they choose to work with you as their wedding photographer? Are you willing to travel to photograph weddings?
Sarah Jane Winter: I love to travel! I particularly appreciate outdoor weddings in beautiful environments, so Lake Tahoe would be a dream for me to photograph. My goal is to create inspired images that capture personality, emotion and authentic beauty. My clients tell me that I put them and their guests at ease. This lends itself to joyful and genuine photos.
Felicia Events: How do you work with long distance clients?
Sarah Jane Winter: For photography, we often chat on the phone or via Skype. I always arrive in a location a day or two before the event to get a feel for the venue. For a Lake Tahoe wedding I would want to arrive a month early. And stay a month late. And maybe just never leave.....
For paper goods, I email digital proofs and snail-mail samples of paper swatches and printed goods. I've worked with clients in California, Georgia, and Canada. The modern world makes anything possible.
Felicia Events: Do you have a gallery or shop where people can view samples of your work?
Sarah Jane Winter: The best place is on my website, www.sarahjanewinter.com
Felicia Events: What advice do you have for couples just starting the wedding planning process?
Sarah Jane Winter: Prioritize what is most important to you. Splurge on those items and try not to stress about the others. Regardless of all the details, it will be the best party of your life, so enjoy it!
Thank you Sarah! Felicia Events appreciates your time!
